23. NWA 12692 — THE RAW INGREDIENTS OF THE PLANETS – SUBTYPE 3.00
Chondrite – LL 3.00
Sahara Desert, Mali
Found 2012 / TKW:373 grams
The constituents of NWA 12692 are nearly unchanged since having formed within the gaseous solar nebula from which our solar system was created. Unlike the case with 99.9% of all meteorites, the 3.00 designation indicates there is almost no metamorphism in evidence whatsoever. Think of this as a snapshot of the raw ingredients of the solid planets — including Earth. Here is a complete slice of another Holy Grail featured in this offering: an extremely rare sample of what is among the most primitive planetary material known.
