39. NWA 15915 — PARTIAL SLICE OF A FASCINATING METEORITE

ACHON-UNGR
Aougrout, Algeria
Found 2022 / TKW: 2.84 kg

As it regards matters of importance in an anecdotal sense, when Ben Hoefnagels and Jay Piatek split a main mass it’s time for collectors to pay close attention. NWA 15915 is an extremely unusual ungrouped achondrite. Primarily composed of augite and enstatite, NWA 15915 is currently undergoing dating and other testing and it’s expected to be among the oldest meteorites known — and not just. The matrix contains translucent crystals which can be backlit. With one edge of fusion crust.

49 x 58 x 2mm (2 x 2.25 x 0.1 inches) and 9.49 grams (47.5 carats)

Estimate $2,500 – 3,500 * No Reserve
